These Terms & Conditions apply to furniture restoration, repair, reupholstery and related services provided by Refurniture.
By asking us to carry out work and accepting an estimate or agreed scope of work, you agree to these terms.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under Irish consumer law.
1. About Refurniture

Refurniture provides furniture restoration, repair, reupholstery and related services for private customers, businesses and organisations.
2. Estimates
We can often provide an initial estimate from photographs and information supplied by the customer.
To help us assess the furniture accurately, we may ask for clear photographs, approximate dimensions, details of any visible damage and information about the result you would like to achieve.
An estimate based on photographs is based on what can reasonably be seen and understood from the information provided.
Furniture can sometimes contain hidden damage or worn internal components that are not visible until the piece is inspected or dismantled.
If we find additional work that would materially change the agreed price or scope, we will discuss it with you before carrying out that additional work.
3. Prices
Prices shown on our website are general guides only.
The final price depends on factors including the size and construction of the furniture, its condition, the material selected, internal repairs, mechanisms, finishing requirements and the amount of work involved.
A price becomes the agreed price when the scope of work and price have been confirmed with the customer.
Any additional work requested by the customer after work has started may result in an additional charge.
Collection and delivery are priced separately where applicable.
4. Materials
Material colours, textures and finishes may appear different on phones, monitors and photographs.
Where possible, customers are encouraged to view physical leather or fabric samples before making a final selection.
Natural leather is a natural material and may contain variations in grain, texture, shade and markings.
Different batches of leather and fabric may also have slight colour or texture variations.
These natural or manufacturing variations are not considered defects.
5. Colour Restoration and Colour Changes
When restoring existing leather, we aim to achieve a consistent and appropriate finish for the furniture.
Exact colour matching cannot always be guaranteed, particularly where the existing leather has aged, faded, absorbed products or worn differently across individual sections.
A complete colour change generally requires more preparation and finishing than restoration in the existing colour and may therefore cost more.
The expected finish and colour will be discussed before work begins where a significant colour change is requested.
6. Existing Condition and Hidden Damage
Older and heavily used furniture may contain damage that is not visible before dismantling.
This can include weakened frames, damaged springs, worn webbing, deteriorated foam, previous repairs, damaged mechanisms or deterioration underneath the upholstery.
We will use reasonable care and skill when working with existing furniture.
Where previously hidden damage is discovered, we will explain the issue and any additional work required before materially changing the agreed scope or price.
7. Restoration Results
Restoration is intended to improve and extend the useful life of existing furniture.
It does not turn used furniture into a newly manufactured item.
Age, previous damage, construction, previous repairs and the condition of the original materials may affect the final result.
Where a particular result is important to you, please tell us before the work is agreed so that we can confirm whether it is realistically achievable.
8. Timescales
Timescales shown on the website or provided during an enquiry are estimates unless a specific completion date has been expressly agreed.
The time required can depend on the condition of the furniture, materials, additional repairs discovered during the work and the complexity of the job.
We will make reasonable efforts to complete work within the estimated period and will let you know if a material delay occurs.
Under Irish consumer law, where no specific time has been agreed, a service must be supplied within a reasonable time.
9. Collection and Delivery
Where agreed, Refurniture can arrange collection and return of furniture.
Collection and delivery charges are separate unless specifically included in the agreed price.
The customer should make us aware of any access restrictions before collection or delivery, including narrow doors, stairs, restricted parking or other circumstances that may affect safe access.
Customers may also bring furniture directly to our Athboy workshop and collect it when completed.
Please contact us before travelling.
10. Customer-Supplied Materials
If a customer asks us to use material supplied by them, Refurniture cannot guarantee the quality, suitability, durability, colour consistency or performance of that material.
We may decline to use a material if we believe it is unsuitable for the furniture or work requested.
Our workmanship guarantee does not cover defects caused by customer-supplied materials.
11. Changes to the Agreed Work
If you ask us to change the agreed specification after work has started, we will explain any effect on the price or expected completion time.
We will not carry out substantial additional work without discussing it with you first.
Minor technical decisions that are reasonably necessary to complete the agreed work may be made by our workshop team as part of the normal restoration or reupholstery process.
12. Payment
The payment arrangements for each job will be confirmed with the customer.
Where a deposit or advance payment is required, the amount and payment timing will be agreed before work begins.
The remaining balance is payable in accordance with the payment arrangement agreed for the job.
Any payment terms specifically agreed with the customer form part of the contract.
13. Cancellation Before Work Starts
If you want to cancel a job, contact us as soon as possible.
Where no statutory cancellation right applies, any refund or cancellation charge will depend on work already carried out and any materials specifically ordered or prepared for the job.
We will not charge for work that has not been carried out, except where a genuine cost has already been incurred for the customer's particular order.
This does not limit any statutory cancellation rights that apply to consumers.
14. Distance and Off-Premises Contracts
If you are a consumer and the contract is concluded entirely at a distance — for example through telephone, WhatsApp or another remote method — or in circumstances covered by the rules for off-premises contracts, you may have a statutory right to cancel.
For most service contracts covered by these rules, the cancellation period is 14 days from the day the contract is concluded.
If you specifically ask us to start work during this cancellation period, we may ask you to confirm that request in writing or another durable form.
If you then cancel after work has started, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for work already supplied, where the legal requirements for starting during the cancellation period have been met.
Once a service has been fully supplied, the statutory cancellation right may end where you expressly requested the service to begin and acknowledged that the cancellation right would be lost once the service was fully completed.
These rules concern cancellation because you have changed your mind. They do not remove your rights where there is a problem with the service.
15. How to Cancel a Distance Contract
Where a statutory right to cancel applies, you can tell us clearly that you wish to cancel.
You can contact us by phone, WhatsApp or another contact method made available by Refurniture.
You do not need to use particular wording, provided your decision to cancel is clear. Irish law permits a consumer to use the statutory cancellation form or any other unequivocal statement communicating the decision to cancel.
16. Reupholstery Guarantee
Our reupholstery workmanship comes with a 1-year guarantee.
The guarantee applies to faults resulting from the workmanship carried out by Refurniture.
It does not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse, damage caused by pets, neglect, inappropriate cleaning products, environmental damage or problems unrelated to the work we carried out.
Customer-supplied materials are not covered for defects in the material itself.
17. Leather Restoration Guarantee
Leather restoration work comes with a 6-month guarantee.
The guarantee covers faults resulting from the restoration work carried out by Refurniture.
It does not cover new physical damage, scratches, cuts, pet damage, misuse, inappropriate cleaning products, normal wear or deterioration unrelated to the restoration.
Care instructions supplied with the completed work should be followed.
18. Guarantee and Your Consumer Rights
Our stated guarantees are additional to your legal consumer rights.
They do not replace or restrict rights available under Irish law.
The Consumer Rights Act 2022 requires services supplied to consumers to be performed with the necessary skill and reasonable care and skill, and materials used must be sound and reasonably fit for their intended purpose.
A business cannot use its contract terms to remove or restrict these statutory rights.
19. Problems After Completion
If you believe there is a problem with work carried out by Refurniture, contact us as soon as reasonably possible and give us details of the issue.
Photographs may help us assess the problem before arranging an inspection.
Where a service does not conform to the contract, Irish consumer law provides remedies which can include bringing the service into conformity and, in appropriate circumstances, a proportionate price reduction or termination.
We ask customers to give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect and address a workmanship issue.
20. Accidental Damage After Completion
If furniture is accidentally damaged after the work has been completed, contact us.
Even where the damage is not covered by the guarantee, it may still be possible to repair the affected area without repeating the entire restoration or reupholstery job.
Any such repair will be assessed separately.
21. Photographs of Our Work
We may photograph furniture before, during and after work for workshop records and to show examples of our work.
Our handling of photographs and personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Where project photographs are used publicly, we avoid publishing customer names, addresses, contact details or other information that could reasonably identify the customer.
22. Website Information
We make reasonable efforts to keep information on the Refurniture website accurate.
Photographs are examples of previous work and do not guarantee that every item can achieve exactly the same result.
General prices, completion times and descriptions on the website are guides. The details agreed for an individual job take priority.
23. Liability and Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
Nothing in these terms limits the statutory rights or remedies available to consumers under Irish law.
24. Commercial Customers
Some consumer protections referred to in these terms apply specifically to individuals acting for purposes outside their trade, business, craft or profession.
Where Refurniture works for a business, organisation or public-sector body, additional or different commercial terms may be agreed for that particular project.
Those agreed project terms will take priority where they differ from these general terms.
25. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Ireland.
Any dispute will be dealt with subject to the rights and procedures available under Irish law.
